Our practice places a strong emphasis on family dentistry. Dr. Raul Castellanos believes in treating the whole mouth for the whole family, and he has treated patients from as young as two months to as old as 100. He knows that children, adults, and senior adults have different needs and priorities. Kids want to be comfortable, entertained, and respected. Adults want the best technology and materials, the most informed doctors, and the highest quality care. Dr. Castellanos understands these differences and addresses them all. Whether it’s check-ups and orthodontics for the kids, cosmetic dentistry for the parents, or full mouth restorative work for the grandparents, Dr. Castellanos provides comprehensive dental treatment for the entire family.

General & Preventative Dentistry

Twice-daily brushings and regular flossing are excellent for maintenance between office visits, but a healthy mouth and beautiful smile require routine general and preventative care to stay that way. Our practice offers general care that includes regular oral examinations, cleanings, and fillings. Our preventative care includes fluoride, professional breath control, and periodontal (gum disease) treatments designed to help you maintain your smile’s health and beauty. Keep your teeth and gums strong and disease-free. Contact our office today to schedule a cleaning or consultation.

Periodontics (Gum Treatment)

Proper care and treatment of the gums is the first step towards a strong, healthy mouth. Unfortunately, periodontal (gum) disease can lead to more than just an unsightly smile—it can cause loss of teeth and eventually, if left untreated, serious health problems. Called gingivitis in its early stages, periodontal disease is caused by excessive toxic bacteria (found in plaque) that attack your mouth’s soft tissues. Early warning signs of the disease include red, swollen, bleeding gums. Dr. Castellanos begins all treatment by assessing the health of the gums and underlying bone. If periodontal disease is present, he will take steps to restore your gums and mouth to a healthy, beautiful state. For more information on our periodontal treatments, please contact our office today.

Orthodontics

Once a patient’s dental health has been established, Dr. Castellanos can then assess the bite and placement of teeth. Having straight teeth is important for both oral health and for appearance. Dr. Castellanos regularly performs orthodontic treatments on patients as part of his philosophy of treating the whole mouth, and he offers both traditional metal braces and a number of newer, more subtle options. One such option is clear braces, which straighten teeth without calling attention to the fact that you are wearing braces. These new options allow our patients to get the treatment they need without feeling self-conscious about their appearance.

Dr. Castellanos also treats jaw alignment and development problems, frequently in children, using removable and fixed orthodontic appliances. We see many children whose upper and lower jaws are improperly positioned or whose top jaws are too narrow, causing a crossbite. To correct such problems, Dr. Castellanos uses removable and fixed orthodontic appliances, such as functional appliances and interceptive expansion appliances. Functional appliances correct upper and lower alignment, realigning the patient’s bite, while interceptive expansion appliances widen the upper arch for a more natural jaw closure. Restorative Dentistry

Our practice is proud to offer comprehensive restorative dentistry with a focus on beautiful, long-term results. Restorative dentistry seeks to repair or replace your natural teeth in order to return your mouth to full functionality and aesthetic balance. This work can range from simple fillings and crowns to more complex root canal therapy and bridge or denture fittings. No matter what stage of restorative care your teeth require, Dr. Castellanos can offer solutions. Crowns

Crowns are natural-looking covers that fit snugly over teeth to conceal chipped, cracked, injured, or badly discolored teeth. Crowns provide support to damaged teeth while also restoring functionality and esthetic balance. Ultimately, crowns can dramatically improve the overall appearance of your smile while making your teeth more resistant to injury. If you have concerns about one or more of your teeth and would like to find out if crowns are the right option for you, please contact the office of Dr. Raul Castellanos today.

Bridges

Sometimes a bit more work is needed to give you the smile you want. If you are missing teeth, having trouble speaking or chewing, or are noticing strain when biting, bridges may be the ideal procedure to help make your mouth healthy and beautiful again. Bridges, sometimes referred to as fixed partial dentures, literally bridge gaps between teeth by filling them with strong, natural-looking artificial teeth. Bridges are semi-permanent – they can only be removed by a dentist – and are comfortable and proven to strengthen teeth. To find out if bridges are the right option for you, please contact the practice of Dr. Raul Castellanos today.

Dentures

Dentures may be the best option to solve the problem of missing teeth. When properly fitted and designed, dentures—which are strong, comfortable, and virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth—can provide extra chewing comfort, maintain facial structure, and ensure added strength. Whether it’s removable or partial dentures you need to fill gaps left by missing teeth or a complete set of dentures to replace your missing teeth, Dr. Castellanos can customize a comfortable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing denture solution to suit your needs. Contact our practice today to start yourself on the road to a beautiful new set of dentures.

Root Canals (Endodontics)

Each of our teeth contains a long, thin strand of dental pulp extending down to the tooth’s root. This pulp provides the tooth with nutrients and nerves. If it becomes infected or injured, the nerves in the tooth will die and often, without endodontic treatment, the tooth will die as well. Root canals are designed to save such damaged teeth. During the procedure (performed under anesthesia), a gap is drilled into the tooth’s crown and pulp chamber. Then the diseased pulp is removed and the tooth permanently sealed, a post core is placed, and a gold or porcelain crown is applied. Please contact our practice today if you would like to get further information about root canals or schedule an appointment.

Full Mouth Restoration

Sometimes, patients come in needing a significant amount of dental work. There can be a number of reasons for this. In some cases, badly neglected teeth need substantial restorative work to return them to full functionality. In others, regular dental work has been performed over the years, but in piecemeal fashion with various dentists. These “one-off” fixes may not function well as a unit or may have begun to deteriorate at different rates. Other causes can include periodontal problems, the need to remove mercury amalgam fillings, or crowded, badly aligned, or aging teeth that are contributing to bite alignment problems or teeth and jaw wear. Thanks to advances in restorative materials, our practice can offer superior, natural looking restorations that are almost impossible to distinguish from your own teeth. Contact us today to find out what a full mouth restoration could do for your smile.

Oral Surgery & Tooth Transplantation

Sometimes oral surgery is the best option to help you achieve a flawless smile. Dr. Castellanos has mastered a variety of oral surgery techniques, including tooth transplantation, bridgework, extractions, and root planing. Tooth transplantation is a highly complex oral surgery procedure performed by few dentists in the United States. It usually involves transplanting a healthy molar from a rear or unerrupted position in the mouth to a more forward location in order to close a gap between teeth.

Tooth transplantation has proven to be highly successful for appropriate candidates and results in a natural smile and bite. To learn more about the different oral surgeries that Dr. Castellanos performs or to set up an appointment, please contact our practice today.
